Annual Event Supports Hundreds of Children with Disabilities
Bangkok, Thailand — X2 Group is helping to put some fun into the lives of children with physical disabilities in Thailand. On June 10 the company is participating in the Annual Convoy for Kids Charity Golf Day. It takes place at Laem Chabang International Country Club, Sri Racha from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The lush and exotic course is regarded as one of the best in Thailand and was designed by famed golfer Jack Nicklaus. All proceeds will go to the Sri Sangwal School in Pakred which helps rehabilitate and educate children with physical disabilities and the underprivileged. The Convoy for Kids Charity Golf Day was started in 2002 as a means to help raise additional funds for the organization.
Since 1965 the Sri Sangwal School has catered to handicapped boys and girls between the ages 4-18 from across Thailand. It falls under the umbrella of The Foundation for the Welfare for The Crippled in Thailand, a non-profit entity established in 1954. The organization relies on private funding to cover the ever increasing yearly expenses. Equipment, other goods and offers from professionals to donate their time and talent are gratefully received.
David Mills of Convoy for Kids said, “Support from corporations and small and medium sized businesses in Thailand are important to providing the funds needed to support the children and give them an improved life. We’re always looking for support in not just funding, but also through needed goods that can sometimes be difficult or too expensive to easily obtain.”
Richard Overton, CEO of X2 Group has led the way in supporting this worthy cause. As a leading global logistics network, Overton said, “Convoy for Kids is a key part of our commitment to corporate social responsibility. X2 Global Media developed a new website for the organization, X2 Logistics Networks will work the registration area and X2 Group found additional corporate sponsors for the event.”
This year the hashtag #ConvoyforKidsThai is being used to follow the event on social media sites including Twitter and Facebook. Convoy for Kids also hosts a major event each November where more than 250 youth are given a day of fun and escorted via a trucking caravan.
